BS - Biology

      The BS Biology program is a preparatory course to medicine. Students are trained to do scientific research and inquiries. Previous students of this major have discovered plant vaccines against animal toxins, made surgical thread from nata de coco and isolated indigenous yeast species from Philippine wildflowers. They have also discovered anaesthetics from local herbs measured lead content contamination in vegetables and are currently testing anti-microbial properties of ants and termites.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BIOLOGY

Objectives

The graduate in this area of specialization is expected to:

1. Readily apply knowledge and skills in the discovery and applications of biological principles for the improvement of human welfare in a sustainable environment.

2. Develop methods of knowledge and technology transfer in the fields of health services, education, and research;

3. Evaluate and implement accessible biological discoveries to community-based information, productivity, and health programs, and;

4. Possess the entry skills preparatory to a medical course.
